Alda is a modular shelving system of great functionality, flexibility and easy to assemble which would be at the same time expression of extreme formal elegance. Only three different modules make the composition a safety and quickly way, by easy elements “dry” overlap, possible. The shelving system can be extended limitless in length and width. The lacquered finishing, the embrasures obtained in the thickness of the panel, the extreme structure essentiality are themes which contribute to make it precious and elegant.

project assistant: A. Ghirardello

Parade is a Collection of 12 decors, each produced in three colour shades. Each decor represents an independent project, formally recognizable, characterized by a solid narrative ability. Starting points of this research about the graphic sign are a tireless research on the single unit, not only seen as a multiplying pattern, but rather as a dense and articulate visual element – as in the case of MODULI laminates family – and freehand drawing, experienced through different painting techniques – as in the case of the FATTO A MANO laminates family. A rich range of designs, able to cross the boundaries of bi-dimension and surface to achieve a well-rooted third dimension, the dimension of narration.

PAESEMIO: Small white houses cling to the sides of an imaginary hill, a sea of roofs, doors and windows, a tribute to the Italian landscape dotted with many small villages celebrated in a popular Italian song.

ROCKETS: The schematized representation of small rockets that intersect in the sky produces a decorative effect that recalls a colourful embroidered Greek fret.

FISHBONE: A suitably schematized and simplified fishbone gives life to a graphic design of great iconic and… ironic impact!

ARTICHOKE: Stylized artichokes perfectly slot together give life to an original graphic background colour already used for the wallpapers collection “Fields” designed for Jannelli&Volpi.

KNOCK-OUT: A geometrical and rigorous composition that gives life to endless little skulls represents the graphics of this laminate. The omonymous rug designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Nodus was created from the same drawing.

TARTAN: Lines of different thickness and colour intersect in an unusual way creating an unexpected pattern vaguely related to the classic Scottish textile.

YAYOI: Yayoi is the name of the Japanese artist whose signature style is represented by polka dots. In this graphics polka dots give life to a sort of chromatic projection obtained by the superimposition of different coloured ink drops.

MASSAUA: The term Massaua refers to a very resistant cotton type fabric used for dishtowels and overalls. Felt-tip pens strokes of different colours and sizes were crossed and superimposed in the project for the Massaua laminate to obtain a new interpretation of the idea of fabric.

DERBY: Green pencil strokes (varying in intensity) simulate a luxuriant green lawn; the particularly interesting graphic result was a fillip to turn the drawing in different colours.

FURROWS: Horizontal lines reproducing the discontinuous signs of graphite, a series of parallel grooves, which can be coloured or black & white.

CANVAS: Coloured pencil strokes simulate a sort of “canvas” fabric, cross graphics scattered all over the background give life to a sort of three-dimensionality typical of embroidery.

BETULLA: The starting point of this graphics is the technique of “frottage”, that is to say the rubbing of coloured pencils on a piece of paper placed over a textured surface; the result reminds the birch bark, hence its name.

Eccentrica System is the new cooker hood designed to be innovative because is the ingenious solution to the frequent problem of an extractor duct that is not perfectly placed in line with the cooktop. The hood’s piping system is variable, customisable and telescopically extendable, negotiating corners with simple bends. Eccentrica System can be designed to meet any needs with four different solutions, each one suited to overcoming different problems to reach the extractor duct, whatever its “eccentricity” in terms of distance or position. Designed following the idea of pure, simple forms, with a flat cylinder that echoes the archetypal shape of the sieve, another drum-like cylinder a short distance away close to the extractor duct which contains the motor, and, connecting the two cylinders, a slim rectangular pipe that conveys the air towards the extractor motor.

Three seats inspired by simple solid geometric shapes, realized in the three typical shades of colours, expression of the character of local stone (pietra leccese), and manufactured using the technique of turning. Their formal profile differs for light changes of direction in the design of the section, thus obtaining a kind of complementarity and a defined sculptural aura. Mel, Gas, and Bal due to their monolithic aspect may also lend itself to the function of bollards.

The aggregation of only two different metal units give born to Koob. The shelving system is characterized by the drawing of the steel sheet – processing of great physical charm when applied to a piece of furniture – which becomes even the aesthetic sign of KOOB.
The ease of installation combined with customization options make this system very effective for home interiors, workspaces, small offices and stores.

Magneto is the new lamp designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Foscarini. The lamp consists of a beam supported by a base and a conical diffuser held together by a magnet ball. Thanks to the magnet, it can be moved in each direction. The intense and precise light, which is not disturbing in the environment, making it an ideal reading light. Magneto exists in two versions: table and floor, occupies a space that is between the classical table lamp and more techniques lamp, and this feature makes it versatile and suitable for different environments.

Tancredi and BARTHOLOMEW is the new interpretation of the art de la table for Vhernier De Vecchi. Presented at Maison Objet 2012, is a family of tableware where the Mediterranean simplicity, the elegance of Italian design, the dialogue between materials and between the artisan knowledge, come together in a sophisticated design, materials, shapes, and the idea of a new sociability open to contamination and mixing of different tastes.
Ceramics, wood, glass and silverplate for a mise en place where symbolically stands out a menage realized in silverplate and valuable rosewood that becomes an ideal square: an agorà (latin), which collects the flavors of a cosmopolitan cuisine, from soy sauce to oil, salt pepper, curry and ginger.

Ape is a little series of objects designed for aperitifs deservedly becomes part of the historic family of cocktail products that Alessi has proposed since the 1950’s.
The “Ape” set can be used at home or on a bar table. The starting point of the project are some little multi-purpose containers and a wooden chopping board for little flans, all mounted on little steel stands (to make them easier to handle and serve), and then little bowls for olives, nuts, crisps. Three little inventions have been added to the family: a self standing cocktail stick holder, which can also be inserted in the olive bowl if desired, a teaspoon with a special cavity for picking up peanuts, and a steel container with lid for concealing little bits of rubbish from view.
