The exhibition “Coffee pots from the Masters. When architecture and design meet the Moka”, curated by Giulio Iacchetti, has been on show at the Lavazza flagship store in Milan during the month of October 2019: twenty-four coffee pots designed by Alfonso Bialetti, Cini Boeri, Lara Caffi, David Chipperfield, Daniel Debiasi & Federico Sandri, Michele De Lucchi, Tom Dixon, Francesco Fusillo, Michael Graves, Isao Hosoe, King-Kong Design, Piero Lissoni, Angelo Mangiarotti, Alessandro Mendini, Gaetano Pesce, Ferdinand Porsche, Aldo Rossi, Richard Sapper, Ettore Sottsass, Mario Trimarchi, Tapio & Sami Wirkkala, Marco Zanuso.

A catalogue published by Moleskine came with the exhibition: a booklet with drawings and texts about the coffee pots on show.

“The coffee pot is a ritual, a symbol, a perfect synthesis between form and function. It is a democratic object, but it can grant an elitist and exclusive pleasure if used properly. The coffee pot is a bell tower and a chimney all in one, a small piece of domestic architecture that punctuates the landscape of the house with its soaring and reassuring presence. Thanks to the coffee pot, all the senses are involved in the coffee experience. These twenty-four exercises carried out by architects and designers show how essential the theme of the moka is in a designer’s CV. Each coffee pot represents  the designer’s way of thinking, their willingness to write the conclusive word, yet knowing they can’t, on the design of an element that unequivocally embodies the Italian way of life.”
