The exhibition Uova Nuove, hosted by the Previtali Gallery, is a project which consists of the conception and display of a collection of 12 eggs + 1 and a video-performance by the actor Enzo Iacchetti. The eggs have organic shapes and take on strange drifts both in terms of size and bizarre profiles, shapes, which can only appear to adhere to the purpose.

I’ve always been fond of eggs, not only for eating… Just to be clear, I also like the wooden eggs that are used to darn socks. Perhaps I am attracted by the egg’s perfect, definitive form (although Bruno Munari said it was made by an ass!). I am so taken by eggs that some time ago I tried to design new ones.

Inventing eggs is part of the set of useless exercises that fascinate me (a repertoire that already includes mushrooms and bones I have invented from scratch). But eggs have something special. Imagining that a life will begin with the necessary breaking of its container is something that is both magical and tragic at the same time.

The egg is beginning and end. In its way of being a ‘box’ (though a round one) it is ‘eschatological’ because it reminds us of ultimate things, the meaning of life, the unexpected things that life holds in store, the surprise we find inside (as in an Easter egg).
