Giulio Iacchetti, in collaboration with Emergency, designs an exhibition project by inviting seven designers to create against war.

His exhibited project, Letter from the Front, is a writing desk—a place to pause, reflect, and write letters of peace.

“Sending letters to loved ones has always been, especially for soldiers at war, a source of solace, comfort, and hope. The world is still rife with wars today, not just the ones that make the headlines. In some way, each of us is a soldier on the front line, facing our own personal battles. Thinking about ‘peace’ or ‘non-war’—purely abstract concepts—means, for a designer, turning abstraction into reality without losing its vastness of meaning.

For this reason, I designed a writing desk that carries a more metaphorical value—a place dedicated to stopping, reflecting, and writing letters not only addressed to ‘this’ side of the front but also to ‘the other’ side of the barricade: to those we are in conflict with, to those we have long owed an apology, or to whom we should send a word of gratitude. Words to mend a relationship, to make peace with ourselves by making peace with others.”
