The object stems from the designer’s fascination with the age-old tradition of ironworking rooted in the Valle Camonica, located in the Central Alps between the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo. In Bienno, the ‘village of a thousand forges’, where this archaic craftsmanship knowledge is preserved, Iacchetti found the right people to help him develop the project for an iron centrepiece.
In the designer’s words: ‘as always, engaging in dialogue with craftsmen means embarking on a journey together: a drawing is transformed into form, and from the first form we proceed to generate a sort of evolution of the species that leads to the ideal place where craftsman and designer find peace: there the object is considered finished and from that moment on it can only be replicated.
